Snap !

No - not the card game (one of the two card games that I can play by the way). Snap is a utility which allows you to hover over a link in a blog and get a quick preview of the linked content.

It's dead easy to install (copy 'n' paste) and thanks to Gammagoblin for the source post.

In other news tonight the most recent Apple Update for Airport (downloadable via software update) seems to have solved my sloooooow surfing issues on my iMac. Woohoo....

Health and safety me arse...

I was driving up the Well Road last night and as we all know it's not the widest or straightest. Anyway CLG Builders were digging a trench across it.

Yet another trench you might cry ! Why the Well Road has had more trenches dug per square foot than the Western Front !

Leaving that aside the fact was that at 7pm on a dark winters night a trench was being dug across the Well Road. CLG had put up a few signs and had employed a flagman. Unfortunately the flagman's stop/go sign was so small that it looked like it had come from a childs "My first roadworks set". And it wasn't reflective. So to compensate yer man used a white light to signal you to stop of go. From what I saw a white light waved wildy meant stop. The signal to go consisted of the same white light waved wildly. Needless to say a white light was not extremely visible against a background of headlights.

What I don't understand is why they couldn't have a simple handlamp like on the railways that shows red or white or amber or green ? Of course we also have to ask why guys standing in the middle of a road in the dark aren't better trained...

Heathrow security

About 100 yards in front of security they have 2 hits stopping everyone asking if they have liquds etc etc. This forms a queue.

You clear this and then get to security which was quite even if it was worrying that it was staffed by an Osama look-alike. This is a shoes-off check and the langers provide a grand total of 4 seats for everyone to sit on to out back on théir shoes.

This Emperors New Security serves only to empower the private security functions at the expense of the traveller.

Smollenskys in London - good customer service

I'm in London at the moment with diarmuid. Flew over with Aer Lingus and staying the night.

We decided to go somewhere decent for lunch and smollenskys on the Strand was mentioned on a website as being child friendly.

So off we went - Diarmuid got stuff to entertain him whilst waiting for the mini adult food (they also had a range for under 7 ).

Whe the food arrived we tucked in . It was nice but nothing special and Diarmuids chicken was very dry and I mentioned it to the person collecting our plates. Within a minute our waiter was over and told is that it would be removed from the bill. Just like that no aggro, no hassle.

So hats off to smollenskys ! And Diarmuid loved the mud pie.
