Tales of the FATLAD

BBC NI had this programme on on Wednesday and I wrote to them about its title. When we were at school the acronym for the six-counties was FATDAD - Fermanagh, Antrim, Tyrone, Down, Armagh & Derry. But the Beeb seem to have substituted Londonderry for Derry. I emailed their comment adress and got back this response: " Thank you for your e-mail regarding 'Tales of the Fatland'. I understand you have concerns that the programme was inappropriately named. However, the name of the programme is 'Tales of the Fatland' and not 'Tales of the FATLAD' as you suggest. Nevertheless, please be assured that your comments and suggestions have been fully registered and added to our daily audience log. This is an internal document that is made available to all BBC staff, including the 'Tales of the Fatland' production teams and Senior BBC Management. Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact us with the strength of your concerns. Regards Paul Kettle BBC Information" However if you go to the BBC listings for next Wednesday (on the BBC site) you see the program is called "Tales of the Fatlad" : Fatlad 1 Fatlad 2 What can I say !

Luxembourg

Well its hello to a cold luxembourg. We flew over snow covered country on the way in (as we did near Manchester).

Luxembourg airport is small like Cork. In fact it is getting a new terminal which looks just like corks new one. Travel here was with Aer Arann to dublin and then luxair with a short stop in Manchester.

The hotel is the Carlton which is quite ok and about 3 minutes walk from the bus stop. It used be a kip years ago but has been done up.

Anyway now I must go off for food !

Transfer to UTV from BT

I'm currently transferring from UTV to BT and the whole thing is taking a bit longer than expected. BT lost one of my forms, found it and then lost it again. All without telling me. UTV threatened to block the transfer until I returned the modem. They forgot to note that it was returned two weeks previously and they ignored the fact that that was a new term and condition which was not active when I signed up - yet another of UTVs scams which involve changing terms and then charging people.

Finally I decided to email BTs complaints section and got a quick enough response. Unfortunately despite being a "valued customer" they got my name wrong. In fact they gave me a second name. So now I don't know if the response was actually for me or someone else...
