Can you keep a secret ?
Cork City Council can !
Today the Black Ash Park & Ride starts its Sunday opening. Nothing about it on the Corporation website. In fact this goes to a 404.
The AA site had it buried in traffic notices.
A pity really because whilst folk are driving round the city looking for spaces or queuing for Roches they could be zooming in on a double-decker from Black Ash and all for a fiver !

Traffic Corps -a good news story.
I drove up to Newbridge this morning and it was a pleasant day for driving.
I drove down this afternoon and it was still a pleasant day and the new stretches of motorway make a vast difference to the trip.
When I was about 5 miles or so outside Littleton (Dublin side) a Nissan X-Trail in front of me (which had thrown a few wobblers near Portlaoise) decided to overtake the truck in front which was doing around 90km/h. This manoeuvre was prompted by the big sign saying "NO OVERTAKING", the pictogram saying no-overtaking and a double continuous white line.
However that didn't deter our brave 07-TS X-Trail and off he went down the wrong side of the road on the other side of the Ghost island and through the junction. He narrowly missed an oncoming car (a micra) and pulled back to his own side.
Next minute - sirens in my ears as a Traffic Corps car pulls out from behind me and off in pursuit. A few minutes later we passed them just about to have a chat with Mr X-Trail.
We all slag them off for shooting fish in the proverbial barrel but it's good to see that they do tackle sheer dangerous driving as well.
So a buala bos for the traffic corps.

Three muppetry goes on and on...
Website : Cork store open until 21:00 on Thursday
Store: Store open until 20:00 on Thursday.
Is it so bloody hard to get simple feckin' things like this correct ?

Three are a shower of moronic muppets.
So following on from my post yesterday I decided to hand back my kit and caboodle to Three.
I checked the website and saw the Cork store (whose staff were pleasant and efficient when I dealt with them) was open until 19:00. So in between dropping kids to beavers and collecting them we dashed into town and arrived at the door of Three at 18:35.
What did I find ?
I found a closed shop. A very firmly closed shop. A shop that was definitely not open.
Lo and behold as far as Three are concerned the shop is open until 19:00. It wasn't. Now it also says that it's open late tomorrow night. Will it ?
Sheesh. Is this anyway to run a business ? Basic facts and information should be up to date on websites especially for a communications company.
God help the national broadband tender. ...

Beware of Three !
I decided to purchase the 3 Internet bundle which consisted of a skypephone and broadband dongle.
The phone comes with 120 credit but of this only 5euro is available immediately (though this isn't mentioned on the product page). What is promised is "You also get €120 free credit so you can start texting and chatting to your mates straight away" (their bold text).
The Dongle comes with 100MB data allowance out of the box. However this allowance is only valid for a month. I feel that this is disgraceful and the allowance should be longer lasting or at the very least this should be clearly mentioned on the relevant page.
It's browning me off a bit as I had planned for the dongle to be a backup unit for the odd time when out and about (and also as a handy way of uploading files to shozu from my N95).
Next decision is to whether or not the whole kit and caboodle goes back to Three....

Budapest
Sitting in Cafe Martinelli about to have a mocha in cold dry Budapest.
Interesting city - modern buildings and restored buildings jostle with ramshackle buildings that haven't been looked after since Communist days.
Modern trams run beside ancient tarta trams and rusty metro trains run through refurbished stations.
Marks and Spencer is near Saturn. Tesco, Cora and Auchan fight it out for business.
Seatbelts don't seem to be used. Drivers seem mad. Traffic police patrol tram junctions in the morning (an idea for Dublin maybe ?). Its like home with the poor information at tram/bus stops.
Prices ? Beer last night was around 3.50 for half a litre. Tram tickets are just over 1euro and just like home if you change tram or bus you have to buy a new one. This mocha is around 2.10 and is waiter service. I am told that ciggies are around half-price. Electronics are much the same as home.
